Women Who Mean Business Awards Luncheon

Honoring Acadiana’s leading ladies Acadiana Business, The Independent Weekly’s sister publication, is pleased to welcome three new sponsors for this year’s Women Who Mean Business awards luncheon, slated for Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11:30 a.m. at River Oaks Catering & Events Center.

IberiaBank will co-sponsor the WWMB awards this year for the first time. Known for its reputation of community support, the bank sought out this opportunity. “As a new sponsor of this event, we are proud to recognize the remarkable achievements and positive contributions of women in Acadiana,” says Lafayette market President Pete Yuan. “This is a tremendous opportunity to raise the profile of the honorees who have made such a distinct difference in the world we live in and, in particular, the business community.” Joining IberiaBank as new sponsors this year are Paul’s Jewelry, which is providing commemorative gifts for each honoree, and the law firm of Jones Walker.

AT&T returns as a presenting co-sponsor this year with Donna Byrne, the company’s newly appointed area manager for external affairs, continuing to build on the company’s relationship with this notable community event. “AT&T is proud to partner once more in this commemoration of Acadiana’s women leaders in business. It’s a reflection of our record in supporting women and helping to strengthen our communities,” Byrne says, noting AT&T’s impressive employment history with women in the workforce. “We also recognize that diversity and inclusion are essential to our success. Today, our workforce is 44 percent female.”

River Oaks Catering and Events Center also returns as a supporting sponsor, a role the tranquil venue has held since the event’s earliest years.

Tickets are $35 each or $295 for a table of eight and are available at www.theind.com . Click on the INDevents button, or contact Kathy Lowry directly at 769-8603 or by e-mail: [email protected] . The 2009 honorees are listed in the sidebar to this story.
