LUS Fiber is bringing the ever expanding world of apps to your TV. LUS recently launched three basic apps - News, Weather and Messages - now available to all its digital cable subscribers. Customers can easily pull up the apps with their TV remote from the menu screen by selecting Extras, then Apps. The News app displays headlines from a variety of sources, including Google, CNN and Fox News and local headlines from local network affiliates KATC and KLFY (no word yet on local print publications). The Weather app provides a quick look at the current weather conditions and three-day forecast for most U.S. cities (searchable by zip code). The Message app relays info and updates on LUS Fiber services and promotions.

"These applications are the first in a series of apps we are working to bring to our customers," states LUS Director Terry Huval in a press release. "We are so excited to see our hard work come to fruition through providing this type of service to our community. Because LUS Fiber is a community-owned network, we will continue to look for opportunities to provide new and innovative features to our customers - the citizens of Lafayette."
