Lost Bayou Ramblers at DTA!

by Dominick Cross

Word is out about the Lost Bayou Ramblers latest album, Mammoth Waltz (set for an April 17 street date), and it's all good. And you can hear tunes from it at DTA!

Lost, they are not.

Instead, the Lost Bayou Ramblers can be found band at Downtown Alive! on Friday the 13th at Parc Sans Souci.

Word is out about the Lost Bayou Ramblers latest album, Mammoth Waltz, with an April 17 release date. The new release of the Grammy nominated band features a diverse guest list, including Violent Femmes' Gordon Gano, actresses Scarlett Johansson and Nora Arnezeder, Givers' vocalist/guitarist Taylor Guarisco and drummer Kirby Campbell, as well as Dr. John.

The show is a soft CD release party, so to speak, followed by a hard one later at the Blue Moon.

The band was formed a decade ago by brothers Louis and Andre Michot, who grew up playing with their father and uncles, an eccentric Cajun family of musicians. With the addition of drummer Pauly Deathwish and bassist ATAP, and more electric guitar from Carruth, the Lost Bayou Ramblers now sport a rock edge to their traditional sound, particularly on new songs like the rousing, Clash-meets-Pogues "Bastille," the hard-edged, nasty title track and the punkabilly swing of "Carolina Blues."

And, as Kate Durio, marketing and communications manager at Downtown Lafayette Unlimited writes, "Where else can you see a band that plays all over the world with other nationally recognizable names for FREE? Nowhere but downtown Lafayette."

DTA! Gets underway at 5:30 p.m. with food and drink; the music goes from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You know the deal, please keep ice chests home with the pets.
