A pre-release concert for the launch of pianist Fabian "Isadar" Thibodeaux's CD Reconstruction is 7 p.m., today, at the Grand Opera House of the South, 505 N. Parkerson Ave., Crowley. Tickets are $10-$25 and can be reserved by calling 337-785-0440 or going here.
If you're out San Diego way this weekend, check out the Gator by the Bay Festival and you'll find Cajun and zydeco music with local groups Chubby Carrier & the Bayou Swamp Band, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Bonsoir Catin and Keith Frank & the Soileau Zydeco Band.
A host of West Coast Cajun and zydeco bands, some with a Louisiana connection will also perform.
Louisiana music will be complemented by Louisiana food as Mitch Olivier of Crawfish Corner in Opelousas plans to boil some 10,000 pounds of crawfish. The festival has the blessings of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission and the Louisiana Office of Tourism.

Tipitina's Foundation & Let's Be Totally Clear's Smoke-Free Air Series comes to Lafayette Friday, May 18, with ImagineIAM, The Pits and Christine Pierce at Artmosphere. The free show is also supported by the Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation, who will give away several $100 loaded credit cards to make the night even more free for several lucky attendees. The concert series highlights the importance of smoke-free workplaces in each city where there is a Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op. In honor of Labels for Education, Safeway and the Grammy Foundation®, Hunter Hayes made a special guest appearance on Monday to perform with seventh and eighth grade students at Corpus Christi School in Piedmont, Calif. The goal is to help nourish the potential of children and support the social value of music education in schools and communities across the country. Hayes performed a special set for students, and shared his experiences in the music industry, in hopes to teach students the importance of music in their lives.
