Lafayette will get a first glimpse of what parish residents envision for their future growth on June 30 when a second critical step in the comprehensive planning process will take place. That's when planners from the Philadelphia firm Wallace, Roberts & Todd will unveil at an open house the "vision" for Lafayette created through a series of community forums in mid April as well as more than 30 "meetings in a box" conducted by local churches, neighborhood groups and civic organizations in mid May.

All told more than 1,050 Lafayette Parish residents participated in the forums and meetings, often breaking into small focus groups with a moderator and enumerating the facets of Lafayette - infrastructure, education, recreation, arts/culture - they believe are important to our future growth and quality of life.

The plan's administrators at Lafayette Consolidated Government have not indicated where the open house will take place. We'll update that information as soon as we get it.
