Wednesday sheriff's sale: old Clarion Inn on Thruway

Wednesday bidding starts at $2.27 million for the former Clarion Inn on Evangeline Thruway.

Wednesday morning the former Clarion Inn at 1421 SE Evangeline Thruway will be part of the weekly sheriff's sale conducted by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department. Bidding on the property, appraised at $2.84 million, will start at $2.27 million (two-thirds of the appraised value, which is released the Friday afternoon before the sale).

Sheriff's sales are held every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. on the 2nd floor of the Lafayette Parish Consolidated Government Building at 1010 Lafayette St., across from the parish courthouse.

Bidders are responsible for conducting their own research of mortgage certificates for any liens. Detailed information on the amount of mortgage or debt can be verified through the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court Office at (337) 291-6337.

Bidding is open to everyone, and payment must be made by 2 p.m. on the day of the sale. Only certified funds are accepted.

Specific information on civil sales is included in the legal section of The Advertiser 10 days before each sale for movable properties and 30 days prior for immovable properties. The advertisements are also published on the Thursday before each sale. Only the exterior of real estate going up for sheriff's sale can be viewed by potential bidders. For moveables, those interested in bidding can go to the place where the property is stored.
