Members of Lafayette's LGBT community will head to Baton Rouge this weekend to join gay citizens from across the state for the Equality March, an event meant to highlight the inequalities experienced by LGBT people in terms of employment, relationship recognition and housing, and to bring awareness to the many manifestations of bigotry encountered by the gay community in this very red state.

Participants will march from North Boulevard to the Capitol and rally on the steps. The march begins at 9 a.m. The rally will be followed by Baton Rouge PrideFest at the LSU Student Union beginning at noon.
