Air Force reconnaissance aircraft are on stand-by as a low pressure system drifting northward from the Yucatan Peninsula threatens to develop into a tropical cyclone. The National Hurricane Center is giving the system, which is currently disorganized but nonetheless producing rain and thunderstorms, a 70 percent chance of becoming a cyclone. The system will be monitored over the weekend.
