The Lafayette event brings together more than two dozen of the finest boudin purveyors in Acadiana to compete.

The annual Boudin Cook-Off held each October in Parc Sans Souci is adding another ribbon to Lafayette's growing list of gastronomic accolades. The event has been named one of America's top 10 food festivals in the country by Gourmet Magazine.

The cook-off is being highlighted in a feature in the June 27 in Gourmet by celebrated "road food scholars" Jane and Michael Stern, who selected food-centric festivals from around the country. The Lafayette event brings together more than two dozen of the finest boudin purveyors in Acadiana to compete.

"This is a huge honor and recognition for the Boudin Cook-Off, frankly, we're humbled by it," says Robert Carriker, one of the event's coordinators. "We conceptualized this event as a way to celebrate all that is great about life and food in South Louisiana and we're proud that others recognize its place as a simple, family-friendly event.  Of course, it's really about the boudin."
