LGMC, OGHS named ‘most wired'

The survey examines information technology departments and IT practices/infrastructure at hospitals across the country.

A pair of local hospitals - Lafayette General Medical Center and Opelousas General Health System - were the only two Louisiana health care facilities to be recognized in the 2012 Most Wired Survey. The results are published in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.

The survey examines information technology departments and IT practices/infrastructure at hospitals across the country. LGMC was cited for a number of innovations and "firsts" including a job site telemedicine clinic, electronic record keeping and, along with subsidiary OGHS, being first in the state to pilot the Louisiana Health Information Exchange, which allows for the secure exchange of health data among providers.
