The Family Tree Counseling Center will be holding its 2nd Annual "Have Your Cake And Eat It, Too" cake design fundraiser this Sunday in the Festival Ballroom at Cajundome Convention Center with special guest UL Head Coach Mark Hudspeth.

This yearly fundraiser benefiting Acadiana families features a cake design and tasting challenge and is open to bakers of all skill levels with the Professional Division for the more proficient pasty chefs, the Amateur Division for baking hobbyists and the newly added Semi-Professional division for local bakery store owners.

Participants are asked to present entries with either an authentic cake or a model replication of the design along with an undecorated sheet cake composed of 100 pieces for tasting by the judges panel as well as the event's guests.

The theme of this year's cake designs is "The Cake Bowl: Celebrating our Champions," to honor the numerous achievements of Louisiana's athletic teams.

Winners from each division will be recognized at the conclusion of the evening with an awards ceremony where the overall winner from each division will be awarded with an "Icing on the Cake" plaque giving them bragging rights for a whole year until they're ready to defend it at next year's challenge.

The evening's activities will also feature the Decorating with Local Faces event where local celebrities, including UL Head Coach Mark Hudspeth, will decorate a cake on site for audience members to judge. There will also be a Cupcake Station where children can decorate their own cupcakes under the supervision of parents and volunteers.

Tickets are available in advance for $5 and $7 at the door on the day of the event. Children ages 3 and under are admitted for free. Set up time for participants begins at 8 a.m. with doors opening for the public at 11:30 a.m. 2 p.m.
