AOC offers slate of workshops

AOC Community Media is ramping up for a fall smorgasbord of workshops for aspiring and experienced videographers and nonprofit organizations.

AOC Community Media is ramping up for a fall smorgasbord of workshops for aspiring and experienced videographers and nonprofit organizations that cover everything from cinematography and directing to editing video on state-of-the-art software. Fees for workshops that aren't free are nominal, especially for Acadiana Open Channel members.

AOC Community Media is also offering individual tutoring sessions covering virtually all aspects of video production and cinematic arts.

AOC 101:
At this orientation, you will learn the benefits of joining AOC, what you can do at AOC as well as how to successfully reserve use of AOC's resources. This orientation is perfect for potential members as well as new members.
Free to everyone.

Cinematography:
This workshop is perfect for new videographers and photographers. Discuss the five Cs of cinematography, learn to select the best focal length and exposure for creative effect and learn how composition rules can be broken. Practice exercises will be assigned.
$35 members/$50 non-members

Studio Production:
This workshop teaches you how to use our large studio to produce a live or recorded television show. Camera operation, stage set up and directing techniques are covered in depth.

Field Production:
This interactive workshop will teach you from beginning to end what you need to know about shooting out in the field. Elements of digital storytelling and technical how-tos will be discussed.

Dynamic Directing:
Learn how to be a great director and use this knowledge to join an AOC crew! You will learn the ins and outs of the live switcher and proper director cues. You will also learn how to use graphics and green-screen technology in your productions.

Intro to Final Cut Pro:
Intro to Final Cut Pro is a beginners' workshop that introduces you to the editing program most used at AOC. You will learn how to set up your files correctly in order to begin editing. This workshop is a prerequisite to Final Cut Pro II.

Final Cut Pro II:
You will learn the main functions of editing in Final Cut Pro. Topics practiced include trimming clips, adding text and audio, and exporting and submitting content for air.

Nonprofit Nourishment:
To better serve Acadiana's nonprofits, once a month nonprofit employees are invited to use their lunch time to first learn how to create and then to submit free advertisements for their nonprofits and its events.
