Senate and House scores are rated separately based on individual members' votes on issues LFF considered important during the 2012 legislative session in Baton Rouge.
Those included bills stripping teachers of tenure, publicly funding the teaching of creationism, forcing women considering abortions to undergo unnecessary procedures at the almost zero clinics in the state that provide such services, stripping Planned Parenthood of its funding to ensure pregnancy rates - and abortions - skyrocket among the uninsured poor, making sure LGBT students can still be bullied and prohibiting schools from having candid conversations with students about sex because, you know, abstinence-only sex education is effective. Not surprisingly, lawmakers with an R after their name tend to cluster near the top of the scorecard while those dragging a D are heaped near the bottom.
