The City-Parish Council continues its review of the proposed 2012-2013 budget submitted by C-P President Joey Durel with a review of several departments within Lafayette Consolidated Government that are facing, in some cases, severe budget cuts.

Those cuts, as reported today by The Advertiser, include a more than 76 percent cut to the Community Development Department as well as an almost 46 percent reduction in the budget for Planning, Zoning & Codes.

Durel submitted the roughly $580 million budget to the City-Parish Council during a special meeting on July 26. The budget hearings are held at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the council auditorium at City Hall. The budget will be adopted on Sept. 13, with a public hearing preceding it on Aug. 30.
