Press divines new clues in Veepstakes

by Walter Pierce

Reporters are raising a collective eyebrow to adjustments made to the registration information for Gov. Bobby Voucher's website.

Treating a niggling detail that arguably has historically had little impact on presidential elections with frenetic, front-page urgency, the national press corps is scurrying to divine the water carrier on the Republican presidential ticket alongside Mitt Romney through a host of unconventional methods. The latest clue: subtle changes to the website registrations for that select handful of presumed short-listers, among them Louisiana Gov. Bobby Voucher.

Reporters are raising a collective eyebrow to adjustments made to the registration information for the websites of Voucher, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Congressman Paul Ryan and Sens. Rob Portman and Marco Rubio, all of whom had their registrations altered in varyingly slight ways. TalkRadioNews.com is also reporting that political correspondents have been tracking Wikipedia articles about the candidates looking for subtle changes that might signal a VP selection.

TRN points to a precedent: a change made to then-Sen. Joe Biden's website on the day in 2008 that he was selected as Barack Obama's running mate. Evidently, it is customary in this digital age to alter the websites of VP selections to make them comport thematically and visually with their respective presidential candidates' websites.

Or something like that.

Go, Bobby Voucher!
