The City-Parish Council will vote Tuesday evening on an introductory ordinance inking a new, five-year intergovernmental agreement between Lafayette Consolidated Government and UL Lafayette for operations of the Cajundome. The current 25-year agreement signed in 1987 expires later this month.

The new agreement increases by $50,000 the financial support LCG offers to the Cajundome - from the current $500,000 to $550,000 - and provides capital funds on an as-needed basis up to $100,000. Because the ordinance creating the agreement is introductory, it may be voted on with a batch of intro ordinances, although LCG's financial support for the public arena, which was built through shared financing between the city of Lafayette, UL and the state of Louisiana, has been a bone of contention in years past.
