Hurricane Isaac preparations and recovery efforts have cost the state $116 million as of Wednesday.
The Associated Press reports that the costs were incurred from readying the National Guard, establishing shelters, supplying food and water to affected parishes and paying state employees for response efforts.
Gov. Bobby Jindal's commissioner of administration says FEMA should cover 75 percent of costs related to Isaac, leaving Louisiana with a $29 million bill thus far. The state's emergency fund holds roughly $16 million, AP reports, but Jindal, the king of anti-government rhetoric, plans to ask the feds to cover more of Isaac's costs even after heavily criticizing the Obama administration for its response efforts before the storm washed ashore.
