Leadership Lafayette taking apps

by Leslie Turk

Local leadership development program is accepting applications through Oct. 26.

The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its Leadership Lafayette Class of 2013.

Sponsored by the chamber, Leadership Lafayette is designed to empower participants through community leadership. The course is designed to encourage new energetic and innovative leaders to approach complex community issues with in-depth analysis.

Twenty-five individuals are selected to participate in the 10-month training initiative. Participants are selected from a cross section of occupations and socio-economic sectors of the community. Class members are involved through topical sessions, lectures, field trips and readings. The curriculum includes topics on education, health care, economic development, law enforcement, government, social services, art, culture and local history.

Now entering its 25th year, the program has more than 600 alumni. For those accepted into the program, tuition is $1,200; a limited number of partial tuition scholarships (up to $600) are available.
