Mellow yellow

by Amanda Bedgood

The must-have color for spring that's wearable for fall. There are few colors that scream spring like yellow. And our Fashion Week insider here at IND Style reports that come spring it will be the "it" color.

Sacred Heart alum Mallory Domingue is assistant director for FWNOLA year round and this week was the IMG Lounge Hostess for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week where she spotted a serious amount of yellow on the runway for spring collections.

"Yellow is the color of spring," she reports.

And we're already seeing it around Acadiana in both day and night dressing. The key to wearing it now as temps cool? Call it mustard (a yellow by any other name sounds far too springy for mid-September) and pair it with warm details.

Cognac boots are a great duo for this mellow shade and we love something a little rusty in the way of a belt, bag or jewelry. If you're looking for a sleeker take on yellow, pair with black. (But, beware looking more bumblebee than chic.) If you're a brave new dresser, mustard is a great piece for color blocking. We love cranberry, teal and orange with any shade of yellow for fall. And come spring, pair it with soft pastels to get two season's worth of wear. Something that's on trend now and later? We're in.
