Haute night in the city

by Amanda Bedgood

Couture fashion show to benefit Symphony brings out the fashionistas Raoul Blanco was making sweet music Friday night without hitting a single note. The couture designer and his Domvinas were cool as cucumbers just moments before a runway show to benefit Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. IND Style got a sneak peek backstage where we found a shocking thing just moments before the show calm.

The vivacious Raoul and the ladies of Andy's jewelry were making final selections for pairings while models with skinny black lined lids and cherry red lips waited for their cue to don the hand sewn (as in every single bead and sequin and bauble) creations. While the models were surely the main attraction, we were also checking out the ladies filling the chairs at La Marquise and are happy to report some great style.

Prissy Wilson looked chic (per usual) in all black. We loved the curvaceous Apiyo Obala's navy dress with gold details. And the mistress of ceremonies, Jenny Krueger, looked fabulous as ever in a one-shoulder blue dress. Our favorite pick of the night was Blaire Hovis in her dressy shorts and easy top with spot on accessories and mint sandals. Blaire looked effortless in those easy metallic shorts by DVF. And upon investigation we learned Blaire is charged with a section of La Marquise that houses some seriously chic pieces, which explains that perfectly pulled together look.

Raoul's designs were as diverse as they come with pastel polka dots on one model, bold red flowers on the next and demure lace on my favorite pictured on model Lauren Ashley. (We would also love to borrow those yummy chocolate pearls.)
