Killer combos

by Amanda Bedgood

Perfect pairings for the fashion daring Combos can be tough in the world of fashion. For the adventurous dresser, it's kind of the point of the whole thing pulling off the unexpected, pairing pieces that others would never dream to combine. We love just such dressing here at IND Style - the fearless kind that is. And we love it even more when it's truly easy.

These three combos are a great way to stay on trend whether you're a fearless or timid dresser. (For the timid, we'll stay friends as long as you promise to take a few chances in the killer combo department.)

First up and the most daring of all is to combine black with navy. A navy dress with a black belt and heels is an easy go to. And we really love this jacket that does it for us from kiki. We spotted Laura Ketteringham rocking just such a combo of black and navy in a tuxedo-inspired suit at the Hitting the Haute Note show. She kept it grounded with a fresh white shirt.

I know you're tired of the talk about leather. But, it's just too fabulous to exclude. Hemline has an ivory leather top (and matching skirt) with a peplum. A peplum! (Yes, a leather and peplum combo is worthy of an exclamation point.)

And then there is the leopard shoe. We are obsessed with leopard footwear. Both Vanessa V. and Bevo's have leopard smoking slippers we're dying for right now. And these lace ups from Shoe La La are about as on trend as it gets. Add a skinny jean and go. Leopard ballet flats are perfect with an ankle pant. And mile high leopard pumps are perfection with just about anything. Forget wearing leopard with nothing but black and try pairing with a bright color or even a funky print. In the wise words of IND Style Award winner Mallory Acrey, "leopard is a neutral ..."

We couldn't agree more.
