DTA will save your soul

by Walter Pierce

Downtown Alive gets soulful Friday with the grooves of Soul Track Mind, a septet hailing from Austin that combines soul, R'n'B, blues, jazz and funk into a smooth, energetic, danceable concoction.

Downtown Alive gets soulful Friday with the grooves of Soul Track Mind, a septet hailing from Austin that combines soul, R'n'B, blues, jazz and funk into a smooth, energetic, danceable concoction. The band formed in 2008 playing a juke joint in east Austin and has risen to become one of the more popular groups in a city overrun with good music. They were even counted among the architects of the national soul resurgence by The New York Times Magazine.

The band will take the stage at Parc International at 6 p.m. and perform until 8:30. The gates open at 5:30. DTA is a free concert series and concession sales help keep it that way so please leave the ice chests at home.
