Oktoberfest brunch this weekend at Jolie's

by Elizabeth Rose

Break out the lederhosen. In celebration of the annual Oktoberfest, Jolie's is partnering with LA 31 brewery to serve a five-course beer brunch this Sunday. This Sunday at 11 a.m., Jolie's and LA 31 are serving a five-course brunch with beer pairings in celebration of Oktoberfest, the 16-day festival that hails the glory of beer in Munich, Germany - and some of the beers have yet to be released.

The first course is a LA 31 Grenade-infused herb spaetzel with a schnitzel natur of house-made hog's head cheese with poblano apple sauce. Next, a veal scaloppini with holondaise, Schupfnudeln, which is a gnocci-like potato noodle, and sautéed spargel, or white asparagus.

And what would a German meal be without cabbage? The third course is a plate of smothered cabbage and grilled apple pork sausage with a white balsamic reduction. Fourth is a Louisiana duck roti with a roasted beet and herb salad, with green garlic and chèvre. For dessert, an apple and pear strudel bar with Bavarian cream.

The brunch is $50 per person. Reserve a seat by calling 504-2382. Jolie's is located at 507 W. Pinhook Road.
