Cajun culture gets a shot in the arm Thursday night when Zachary Richard hosts a book signing party at the Blue Moon Saloon for his recent release of Histoire des Acadiennes et Acadiens de la Louisiane, a definitive chronicle of the Acadian history and evolution of the culture in our area.

Histoire des Acadiennes et Acadiens de la Louisiane serves as a manual geared specifically towards French immersion students but also acts as a starter's guide on the Acadian/Cajun culture to the layman.

The book presents a clear spectrum of the Acadian culture by looking at its roots from the Deportation of 1755 through their following exile along the route which brought the Acadians to Louisiana.

With pages dotted with stunning images unearthed from the Acadiana catalogue, the book frames what contemporary Acadian/Cajun culture looks like in Louisiana while showcasing its infectious traditions, social alacrity and its overall creative vigor.

The signing party is free for all ages and will be held at the Blue Moon Saloon from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entertainment includes music from Luke, Zack & Phillip Huval and food from Chef Pat Mould. Afterwards, Feufollet will take the stage with a $10 cover, $5 if you purchase the book.

Histoire des Acadiennes et Acadiens de la Louisiane is available from the ULL Press for $24.95. For more information check out the signing party on Facebook or find Histoire des Acadiennes et Acadiens de la Louisiane on the UL Press website.
