Landry targeted by pro-Boustany website

by Walter Pierce

The site accuses Landry of a laundry list of falsehoods and extreme positions, among them advocating a "23% Tax on Everything."

U.S. Rep. Jeff Landry, R-New Iberia, is the focus of a website, LAFactCheck.com, that has evidently been in operation - well off the political radar - for months but only recently ramped up its attacks. This week the operators of the site sent links to local media in an effort to generate a mailing list for the site's numerous allegations of lying and misrepresentations by the tea party favorite who is seeking to unseat four-term Republican Congressman Charles Boustany of Lafayette:

The objective of this site is to set the record straight and inform the people of South Louisiana of the truth surrounding the numerous lies Jeff Landry has decided to plant in his smear campaign on Dr. Boustany. What can we say? Jeff Landry is a trial lawyer that is slicker than a wet pig.

He'll do and say anything to get in the newspaper.

The site, which appears to have been created last May but was effectively dormant until late September, accuses Landry of a laundry list of falsehoods and extreme positions, among them advocating a "23% Tax on Everything." The site also rehashes a popular refrain by the Boustany camp about Landry missing votes during this, his first, term in Congress.
