"Beekeeping in Acadiana"

by Heather Miller

Get the buzz on bees and a lil taste of honey during the next installment of CCET's Backyard Series at the Vermilionville Performance Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The free event will feature several members of Acadiana Beekepers, including Emily Neustrom, a horticulture therapist / amateur beekeeper.

"They'll give an overview of beekeeping and its history, discuss seasonal plants and how they determine the kind of honey the bees produce," reads CCET's press release.

Tuesday's discussion also will hit on the issue of Colony Collapse Disorder and how Chinese-imported honey is not 100 percent pure.

The Backyard Series is an all-aged free event hosted by CCET and supported by Acadiana Center for the Arts, Louisiana Division of the Arts and the Vermilionville Foundation.
