Mavens at Maven

by Amanda Bedgood

Trend spotting at Maven Menswear's anniversary shindig

We kind of expected to find some style mavens at Maven's anniversary party Friday night. And the men (and ladies) who rolled out for some eats and drinks and all manner of celebration didn't disappoint. The lady of the night, owner Christina Barbier, looked smashing in a purple, black and white print dress. Fellow River Ranch gals (from Hemline) Stephanie Theriot and Muffy LeBlanc supported Maven in style. Stephanie with some seriously hippie jeans and on trend fringe-decked bag and Muffy in too cute lace shorts, jacket and mile high leopard heels.

Azeez Alli-Balogun looked about as cool as they come and rocked a great necklace of his own design. (Turns out he's not just a guy that hangs at Maven. He's a jewelry designer at Stuller.) Maven employee Emmanuelle Larroque looked fantastic in black skinnies and black and white long top. The perfect transitional outfit.

We had to get the name of the nail color we spotted on April Derokey. Could it be the perfect Tiffany Blue? Indeed. (Tiffany Blue is at the top of this IND style gal's absolute to die for colors in anything ever worn, painted or envisioned list.) April informed IND style that her glossy manicure is, indeed, Hepburn inspired (and took some hunting to find). "For Audrey" by China Glaze looked perfect with her simple black T and jeans.

While our favorite of the senses is certainly sight (the better to see your sartorial choices, my pretties), Maven offered the full experience with eats from Acme, jams from A Funk Band Named Machete and their brand spanking new fragrance A Million Bucks. The fresh indescribable smell hovered in the store on Main Street with notes of oak moss and basil.

"It's really kind of amazing," Christina said of the fragrance created (literally) by she and her husband, Daniel.

We really kind of agree.
