Sinful dressing

by Amanda Bedgood

An artful event brings creative dressing a wicked twist

Come Saturday, the Acadiana Center for the Arts will fill with both saints and sinners for a fete aimed at bringing a new twist to the term 'creative cocktail.' Masquerade masks are an option as well as cocktail attire that's taken up a notch with daring details.

AcA marketing director Kate Waxley plans to arrive for Saints and Sinners in the classic sinner's look.

"Black floor length ensemble with devilishly red accessories. The unassuming evil doer," Kate reports.

Think more vampires go couture than Gilligan's Island when it comes to costumes. And be sure to take the 'creative' part of cocktail quite seriously. IND Style will be watching for the best dressed. And a contest for the most outstanding of the saints and sinners will keep both the daring and demure on their toes.

Saints and Sinners Masquerade Bash is at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at AcA with music from Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars. Tickets are $45 or $80 for a couple with tables going for $800. Call 233-7060 for more information.
