Piastres en Masse invades Boudin Cook-off

by Wynce Nolley

The fourth Piastres en Masse will coincide with this year's Boudin Cook-off at Parc Sans Souci this Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

FrancoJeunes, those French-speaking young professionals who've charged themselves with sustaining and growing the French language in Acadiana, will hold its fourth Piastres en Masse in tandem with the 5th Annual Boudin Cook-off to emphasize the long tradition of boudin-making in French Louisiana.

FrancoJeunes is asking patrons who attend the event to communicate in French with the cook-off's many competitors, many of which already fluent in French, as well as everyone else they may come in contact with, even if it's a simple "merci" or "bonjour."

"We normally ask on Piastres en Masse day that patrons spend 10 dollars at the business we choose to promote that month. The Boudin Cook-off sells its sampling tickets in packs of (eight for $5), so this time we get to introduce the community to multiple French-speaking businesses at one single event,"said FrancoJeunes president Mandy Migues in a press release.

The 5th Annual Boudin Cook-off takes place this Saturday, Oct. 20, at Parc Sans Souci from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tickets for boudin samples are $5 for a roll of eight. For more information visit boudincookoff.com. For more information about Piastre en Masse click here.
