Agave opening third location in Parc Lafayette

by Heather Miller

The thriving Mexican cantina that started downtown and has since expanded to a second location on Bertrand is planning to open a third restaurant in Parc Lafayette. Agave Mexican restaurant and cantina is expanding to the Southside; Lafayette restauranteur Nidal Balbeisi has secured a third location for his thriving Mexican concept that should be open within three or four months.

Balbeisi tells ABiz the restaurant will be located in upscale Parc Lafayette at the corner of Kaliste Saloom Road and Camellia Boulevard.

Patrons, Balbeisi says, can expect the new site to mirror the "flea market Mexican restaurant" theme of his other locations, with the "same patio and same ambiance" as both the downtown and Bertrand Drive Agaves.

"We're very excited," he says. "The Bertrand location is doing very well, and we're looking forward to opening at our new location in the next few months."

Agave's concept is a blend of traditional Mexican cuisine and local flavors. The tequila bar and lounge with 40 fine agave tequilas is a popular attraction for both indoor and patio diners alike.

Balbeisi, who opened the original Agave in 2007, is also the owner of Zeus Greek and Lebanese eateries and the former Trynd downtown.
