Romero & Co. hit DTA stage Friday

by Walter Pierce

The Grammy-nominated Romero first played DTA more than 20 years ago when he was a wunderkind high-schooler after whom a state law allowing underage musicians to perform in bars was named.

Roddie Romero & The Hub City Allstars will crank out some fine South Louisiana swamp boogie on the big stage at Parc International as Downtown Alive rounds the second furlong and gallops home to a melodious pre-Thanksgiving finish line. The Grammy-nominated Romero first played DTA more than 20 years ago when he was a wunderkind high-schooler after whom a state law allowing underage musicians to perform in bars was named. Now he's making a name for himself the old-fashioned way: touring his ass off.

The gates open and concession sales begin at 5:30 p.m.; the music cranks up at 6. Help keep DTA free by leaving your ice chests at home. Concession sales help keep the concert series free.
