The international oil industry awarded one of its top honors to Arnaudville native Jack Hardy Sr.
Arnaudville native and oil industry veteran Jack Hardy Sr., 65, took home one of the international oil industry's top honors on Oct. 18 during the 11th Annual World Oil Awards held at The Houstonian Hotel in Houston.
The 42-year industry veteran was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement award, honored for his continued leadership and service in well control snubbing, a type of heavy well intervention performed on oil and gas wells. Snubbing is used for the most demanding operations; unlike conventional drilling and completion operations, it can be performed while the well is still under pressure.
In 1982 Hardy founded International Snubbing Services, which he sold in 2000 to Superior Energy Services, staying on as president of ISS until his retirement in April.
The Lifetime Achievement award honors an individual who has made significant strides and impacted the oil and gas industry throughout his or her career. In addition to starting ISS during an industry downturn, he "tamed hundreds of dysfunctional, high-pressure oil and gas wells and traveled around the world more than 30 times," according to Superior Energy Services.
World Oil magazine annually honors the upstream energy industry's top innovators and innovations. This year's honorees took home trophies in 16 categories and learned of their wins during Thursday's gala event.
Hardy, who still lives in Arnaudville, plans to pursue new business opportunities in the manufacturing arena.
