Angelle rolling in dough

Scott Angelle, the former secretary of the state Department of Natural Resources and St. Martin Parish president, has more money in his campaign coffer heading into the Nov. 6 Public Service Commission primary than his four opponents combined, according to a report by The Advocate. Angelle's deep pockets are evidenced in the wave of TV and radio ads on his behalf in Acadiana over last few weeks, notably the ad containing a whiz-bang snippet of his "Boudreaux-Thibodeaux" speech at the Rally for Economic Survival in the Cajundome in July of 2010.

Angelle is out-fundraising - and spending - fellow Republicans Erich Ponti, a state rep, and Sarah Holliday; Dem Forest Wright and no-party candidate Greg Gaubert, increasing the likelihood that Angelle will walk away from the Nov. 6 primary with the 50+1 percent margin necessary to avoid a runoff. The five are vying to replace long-time PSC member Jimmy Field, who is retiring at the end of the year.
