It's all about the Horse Farm, or more particularly what the 100 rolling acres in the heart of Lafayette will be in a few years when it's transformed into a passive park, this Saturday.
It's all about the Horse Farm, or more particularly what the 100 rolling acres in the heart of Lafayette will be in a few years when it's transformed into a passive park, this Saturday. Howdy to the Horse Farm is what they're calling it. It will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the spread on the 2900 block of Johnston Street.
The free event will feature hayride tours of the former UL laboratory farm, a pumpkin patch, a meet-and-greet with members of the Lafayette Mounted Police Unit and other activities. Parking will be available at the adjacent South College Center. According to a press release announcing the event:
Hosted by City-Parish President Joey Durel and the Durel Community Enhancement Fund, Howdy to The Horse Farm is an opportunity for Lafayette residents to bring their families and cameras so they can envision the future of the Horse Farm. Ultimately, the goal is to raise community awareness about the Horse Farm and the level of support needed to turn it into a public space all Lafayette residents can enjoy. A donation barrel will be available for people to make a contribution of any size and souvenir items will be available for a small donation. These proceeds will benefit the Horse Farm.
