Bougie Goose flies to Carpe Diem! for cheese tasting

by Elizabeth Rose

The Bougie Goose is flying to Carpe Diem! this weekend for its first cheese-tasting class. Lafayette newcomer The Bougie Goose is sharing cheesy goodness with Lafayette with its first cheese-tasting class this Monday: Cheese Tasting 101.

Bougie Goose owner Monica Laverne will walk cheese lovers through the seven styles of cheese: fresh, bloomy, semi-soft, firm, hard, blue and washed rind. Laverne's love for cheese was cultured over cheese plates during her European travels, and she is set on sharing her love of cheese with a city that loves food as much as she does. Her ultimate goal is to open a cheese shop in Lafayette with all of the cheeses and trappings that accompany those molded munchies - olives, spreads, preserves and, of course, alcohol. Until the Goose finds a nest, however, Laverne is going to share her love and knowledge of cheese with Lafayette.

This Monday, the Goose lands at Carpe Diem! Gelato and Espresso downtown at 7 p.m. and the class is expected to last about an hour. It's BYOB, but Laverne will provide pairing suggestions - she's been letting out quick pairing tips on The Bougie Goose's Facebook page all week. Find the link to the event here. Sign up early, though, because seating is limited to 12 people.
