Sterling Automotive Group joins the automotive construction boom under way in Acadiana.

There is an automotive construction boom under way in Acadiana. The latest: Sterling Automotive Group's new Ford-Lincoln dealership adjacent to its Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram store on the I-49 N. Service Road.

The 32,000-square-foot facility, consisting of showroom space, sales offices, a customer lounge, retail and wholesale parts and accessories, along with a 17- bay service bays, is expected to be complete early next fall. At that time, the company will relocate its Ford-Lincoln's operations from the Bordelon Motors location in downtown Opelousas.

The new dealership will also have an automated stand-alone carwash and three vehicle detail bays. A second floor will house business and operations offices for all three of Sterling's Opelousas dealerships.

The general contractor for the project is J. B. Mouton of Lafayette, and the project architect is D'Avy and Associates of Opelousas.

The Sterling group says in a press release that the new ultra-contemporary design reflects Ford-Lincoln's distinctive "Trust Mark" brand imaging concept. The building layout and décor are designed to provide a comfortable, spacious environment to enhance customers' car shopping experience and streamline the service process. The customer lounge will have refreshments, Wi-Fi connectivity and the ability to view your vehicle while it's being serviced.

Sterling is the latest to join the construction boom among local dealers. Service Chevrolet has a new facility under way on Ambassador Caffery Parkway near I-10, and dealerships Moss Motors, Infiniti of Lafayette and Courtesy Automotive Group are also in the midst of construction projects.
