Cake decor contest slated for Saturday morning

The Louisiana Lunch Money Carnival Saturday morning will include a cake decorating contest for the best "fall expressions" creation with the winner seeing their cake in the pages of IND.

Yours truly will be on hand to help judge the cake decorating contest and the entry fees all go to a more than worthy cause Louisiana Lunch Money. The carnival at the Crown Room located at 4607 Johnston Street is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with booths for face painting, pony rides, carnival games, cotton candy and snow balls, cake walk, plate lunches, bingo, live music and much more.

Admission is free and all money raised goes to feed children lunch in Lafayette Parish schools. The brainchild of Cerrisa Couvillion came after she saw a student at her child's school eating a "lunch" of graham crackers and milk because they didn't have money for lunch. Moved by the reality that even children who don't qualify for free lunches find themselves in need, Cerrisa began Louisiana Lunch Money.
