Vermilionville's latest retro festival turns back the clock on Halloween festivities with Boo Bayou this Sunday.
This family-friendly fall carnival kicks off at 10 a.m. with classic Halloween game throwbacks like bobbing for apples, pumpkin bowling, candy corn counting, cookie decorating, face painting and trick-or-treat bag making to name a few.
A children's costume contest will follow at noon with categories for children 0-3 years, 3-6 years and 7 and up in addition to who's sporting the most original, scariest or funniest costume. There's also an on-site photo op where families can get a portrait of their Boo Bayou experience against the village's own original Halloween backdrop taking place from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Finally, Boo Bayou concludes with the pinnacle of every Halloween shindig: trick-or-treating. Vermilionville will open up its mythic village to the rampant horde of candy craved trick-or-treaters as its artisans will be posted at several key spots around the little town including the schoolhouse, the chapel, Mouton House, Maison des Cultures and many others.
Boo Bayou will be held this Sunday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. at Vermilionville with admission at $6 for adults, $4 for students ages 3-18 and free for children ages 3 and under.
