by Heather Miller

Saturday's Louisiana Book Festival in the Capitol area will host more than 145 writers, poets and panelists, several of whom hail from Acadiana. The Louisiana Book Festival will take over the grounds of the state Capitol and surrounding areas Saturday when more than 145 writers, poets and panelists gather for the annual event.

Included in the laudable list of writers are numerous scholars, authors and journalists from Acadiana, like UL French professor and Cajun culture guru Barry Ancelet, journalist Chere Coen and St. Martinville's "queen of Cajun cooking," Marcelle Bienvenu among others.

Events and topics up for discussion cover a wide variety of interests, including travel, food, journalism, music, young adult and many more.

The free fete will also feature food, live music and other entertainment.

Louisiana Book Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the state Capitol, the Louisiana State Museum and the state Library of Louisiana.
