Get an earful on how the outcome of Tuesday's election will impact the state's oil and gas industry.
Randall Luthi, president of the National Ocean Industries Association, will be speaking at a Lafayette luncheon Wednesday, Nov. 7, about the impact of Tuesday's presidential election (should we actually know the outcome by then) on the state's oil and gas industry. Luthi's discussion, The State of the Gulf of Mexico Oil and Gas Industry, is part of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's Food for Thought series.
The luncheon is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lafayette Hilton on Pinhook Road. As of Tuesday morning, only nine spots remained. Admission is $25 for chamber members, $40 for non-members and $250 for a table of eight. Contact Angelle Theriot at 408-3657 for more info.
According to its website, NOIA is the only national trade association representing all segments of the offshore industry involved in the exploration and production of both traditional and renewable energy resources on the nation's Outer Continental Shelf. Its mission is to secure reliable access and a fair regulatory and economic environment for companies that develop the nation'soff shore energy resources in an environmentally responsible manner. The NOIA membership comprises more than 275 companies engaged in business activities ranging from producing to drilling, engineering to marine and air transport, offshore construction to equipment manufacture and supply, telecommunications to finance and insurance, and renewable energy.
Before taking over NOIA, Luthi was the director of MMS at the Department of the Interior. Under his leadership MMS conducted the largest Gulf of Mexico OCS oil and gas lease sale in history, as well as the largest Artic OCS oil and gas lease sale in history. Luthi also served as the deputy director of the DOI's Fish and Wildlife Service before working for MMS.
A former Wyoming state legislator and Speaker of the House, Luthi is an attorney and rancher.
