A Slidell man identified merely as "Michael E" has submitted a petition to the White House's website asking that the feds "[p]eacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government."
Yeah, let's give that a try. We're just the second-poorest state in the union with an unhealthy, morbidly obese and obscenely under-insured population and, like virtually all red states, get more in federal assistance than we pay in federal taxes, but we should definitely go it alone because, well, because job creators and stuff.
At last count nearly 300 people including dozens from Acadiana had signed the online petition. The black, possibly Muslim, definitely socialist president will respond when it reaches 25,000. So get busy, wingnuts! Click here to join the insanity.
