Artists unveil newest work in the Oil Center
Two artist. Two collections driven by something within. Jill Tauzin Broussard and Missy Cannon launch their Soul2Soul exhibit at Mixology Interiors & Art tonight and curator Johanna Villarreal promises their work won't disappoint.
"These two fabulous well-known and well-loved artists have come together to launch their Soul2Soul exhibit here at Mixology Interiors & Art," Johanna says. "You will be struck by their great talent, Jill for her ever expanding style and her continuous mastery of it so evident. Missy you will see a vast variety of styles," Johanna says pointing to Missy's background.
"Missy is most famous for Flowers to Paintings, but she is a student of Elmore Morgan and that says everything."
According to Missy, the personal journey through the elements (wind, water, fire and earth) has been a life changing one.
"Finding my truth and having the courage to express my truth in my art has become a reality for me ..." she says in her artist's statement.
For Jill, too, the work comes from more than merely her paintbrush.
"It is not what I do; it is who I am ... in painting, I am most inspired by nature and the human figure. My work is abstract and minimal as I am trying to capture the essence of the subject, not a literal interpretation."
The show opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight with wine and cheese and their work will be available for some time at the shop in Oil Center Gardens.
