Named development director, local techie in charge of foundation's fund-raising efforts.

FiberCorps founder Geoff Daily has joined the Lafayette General Foundation for Healthcare Innovation as development director.

As head of the foundation, Daily will be instrumental in organizing fund-raising efforts for the foundation through grant writing, networking and event planning. He spent the last 2.5 years running FiberCorps, a non-profit formed by a coalition of community partners with the goal of turning Lafayette into a testing ground for next-generation Internet service. FiberCorps helped establish the first telemedicine clinic in Acadiana between Lafayette General Medical Center and Stuller Inc.

Daily also was involved with integrating the Louisiana Health Information Exchange.

The Lafayette General Foundation raises funds and awareness for reinvestment initiatives to help restore, maintain and improve health care at LGMC and its affiliates. The foundation aims to attract support of corporations, foundations and individuals to secure the resources needed for LGMC to advance health care throughout the community.

Daily says his role at the foundation will focus on turning Acadiana into a "hub" of the health care industry.

"Part of what the hospital wants me to do," says Daily, "is to help bring it to the next level, and position Lafayette General as a cornerstone of innovation in health care."
