Jockey Calvin Borel won't be racing for his 5,000th win when Oaklawn Park opens this week in Hot Springs.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Jockey Calvin Borel won't be racing for his 5,000th win when Oaklawn Park opens this week in Hot Springs.

The racetrack says Borel suffered a minor fracture in his wrist Tuesday and won't be riding for at least 18 days.

Live thoroughbred racing begins Friday at Oaklawn and Borel just notched his 4,999th victory in Louisiana. He had planned to ride Friday before suffering the injury.

Hot Springs tourism officials have printed trading cards commemorating Borel's 5,000th victory. Visit Hot Springs CEO Steve Arrison tells the Sentinel-Record (http://bit.ly/VfticS ) that Borel's injury puts the trading cards on hold - but that he expects Borel to pick up the milestone win shortly after he returns to the track.
