Two male N.P. Moss students were arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a female student, authorities confirmed to The IND Friday.

After receiving an anonymous tip Friday afternoon, The IND contacted Lafayette Police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton, who confirmed the incident. According to Mouton, the alleged rape happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday during a physical education class, when two male students, a 16-year-old and a 13-year-old, snuck off and met with a female student, age not released, in one of the bathroom's inside the Domingue Center, located across the main campus.

That, Mouton tells The IND, is where the alleged rape went down. The altercation was discovered by a school employee, says Mouton.

Both males were arrested, with the 16-year-old being booked on an aggravated rape charge, while the 13-year-old was charged with being a principal to rape.

"The school's going to have to put in place measures on campus to prevent this from happening again in the future," Dr. Pat Cooper, superintendent of Lafayette schools, tells The IND on Friday, shortly after receiving notice from police of what happened. "It's unfortunate, but it's not like these are our star students. [N.P. Moss] is all the kids who didn't make it anywhere else are sent."
