You are not going to believe this. District Attorney Mike Harson allowed Assistant District Attorney Greg Williams and his secretary, Denease Curry, to remain on the job despite having full knowledge they were pleading guilty to accepting bribes. Why?
We too wanted to know, so we asked Harson via email. And here is what he had to say: "Because they were training their replacements."
I told you that you would not believe it.
Kind of like a bank president finding out his bank officers are embezzling money but he won't let them leave until they train their replacements.
Let's imagine how this "training" period might have gone:
Williams, Curry to new hire: "OK, when the bagman brings in the money, count it, making sure it's in small denominations, then stick it in the file drawer here on the left marked payola.' Make sure you peek into Harson's office to see if he's still watching Judge Judy or sleeping on his sofa. Then call (DO NOT email or text) Judge Rubin to let him know you need to meet in chambers asap to quickly dispose of the OWI case. You got that?"
New hires: "Yes."
Williams, Curry: "You're good to go."
