Parade of style

Catch beads in comfy, cute pieces

Until now Mardi Gras madness has been about the balls. This weekend that all changes as Rio and Krewe de Chienes rolls (or barks in the case of the latter), which means it's time to ditch the heels and find those comfy boots.

If you're one of the lucky gals with a pal on the parade route, good for you. But, most of us will be trudging a bit before we find that perfect spot for snatching beads. And so, comfort is key. But, as you know around IND Style nothing beats looking great. So, I've picked a few easy pieces that will keep you styling long after the last float rolls through.

The key for Mardi Gras parade dressing - layers. You never know where the party will lead and what may be great for the street isn't what you'd love to wear at that after party that came up out of the blue.

Let's start with footwear. If ever there was a time for boots, this is it. Low heels, on trend. We're loving these roomy-shafted boots from Shoe Fits. Cute over skinnies or leggings and a giant sweater. Over at Sky Blue, we're loving their lace up variety that offer a bit of a heel. Perfect if you're inclined to wear a flirty little dress like the one pictured and perfect to take you into spring with funky little boho shorts or more flirty little skirts.

Brother's has a cardi that pay homage to the colors of Mardi Gras with a hint of the must-have mint we're talking so very much about this spring. And at Herringstone we're loving loving this vibrant pink open weave sweater. With a longer hemline in the back, it's perfect with super skinny pants, but could be great with a pair of slouchy boyfriends a well. Thanks to the open weave and vibrant color, it's a sweater that will work into the spring. Now and later - what we're all about.
