Seven Up

Opening this weekend at Cité des Arts is The Seven. This new musical from Lafayette native Lance Bordelon that tells the tale of a young man named Scott, who was abandoned on the NYC Subway Train 7 as a child, as he slowly learns to accept the world above the labyrinthine subway tracks. The Seven will be shown this Friday and Saturday night only at 7:30 p.m. at Cité des Arts in downtown Lafayette. Tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students with a vaild ID.

ReStore recycle

In its continual efforts to promote a greener world, Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is sponsoring Electronics Recycling Day on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Acadiana citizens are encouraged to drop off their unwanted or unused electronics including computers, monitors, printers, laptops, TVs, stereo equipment, cell phones, microwaves and more. In return they will receive a tax receipt for their accepted donation.

However, Habitat will not be accepting items containing biohazardous or other hazardous waste material, liquids, fluorescent bulbs, smoke detectors, radioactive materials, wooden consoles, projection TVs or TVs containing broken glass or bare CRT tubes. Habitat will also be offering a hard drive wipe fee of $10 for any computers. Habitat is also offering free donation pick ups for items too large to fit in a vehicle, which can be scheduled by calling 371-6030.

Shameless plug

The 16th annual IND Bridal Show will be held on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cajundome Convention Center. The event serves to bring together nearly every bridal resource that a recently engaged couple would need to plan and pull off their very own fairy tale wedding.

Dozens of wedding professionals and vendors will flood the floor of the Cajundome Convention Center to offer everything from wedding cakes to dresses and more. Tickets are $12 and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit The Louisiana Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.

The AcA's Jazz @ The Center Series welcomes the legendary Preservation Jazz Hall Band tonight for a special one-night-only performance starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.

Sassafras Jubilee will be spinning their Americana stylings at a free show at Saint Street Inn's side alley on Saturday, Feb. 23 starting at 7 p.m.

The Pine Leaf Boys bring their Cajun flair to the stage of the Blue Moon Saloon along with American badass Buddy Flett on Saturday, Feb. 23, starting at 9 p.m.

Acadiana Symphony Orchestra will feature a free Chamber Music Classical Concert at St. Peter's Church on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 3 p.m.
