T-Galop: A Louisiana Horse Story by UL faculty member Conni Castille of Breaux Bridge has been recognized by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities as the Documentary Film of the Year, the latest accolade for our favorite filmmaker who last year walked away with the Louisiana Feature Film Prize at the 2012 New Orleans Film Festival. Past documentaries by Castille have also won top awards at the NOLA festival.

T-Galop traces the history of equine culture in Louisiana, from colonial times to the present, with an emphasis on Cajun and Creole traditions related to horses - from rural Mardi Gras celebrations to trail rides and bush tracks. The assistant director of UL's Center for Moving Image Arts, Castille wrote, directed and produced the film.

Castille will receive the award on Saturday, April 6, at a luncheon at Houmas House Plantation in Darrow, La.
