In conjunction with Chitimacha Louisiana Open, national company offers advice to locals on how to market their businesses online. Web.com, a national provider of Internet services and online marketing solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, is hosting a free, interactive Small Business Forum to help Lafayette area small businesses learn how to be successful online.

The free forum takes place Thursday, March 21, from 8 - 10:30 a.m. at the City Club at River Ranch. City-Parish President Joey Durel will provide the opening welcome for attendees.

"We are excited to share our knowledge about what really works online so that small businesses in Louisiana can maximize their Internet presence," Debbi Lechner, vice president of marketing for Web.com and the morning's featured presenter, says in a press release. "We think our pointers can make a real difference in small business success, and we look forward to taking the mystery out of creating a successful online experience."

Lechner will focus on the primary topics that make up a successful Internet presence: the elements of a great website, how to determine if your website is "working" for you, increasing traffic to your website and your business, and de-mystifying how to efficiently market on Google, Facebook and Twitter.

Web.com hosts the Small Business Forum in conjunction with SCORE, a nationwide source of free and confidential small business advice.

"SCORE's mission is to grow successful businesses across America, one at a time," SCORE CEO W. Kenneth Yancey Jr. says in the release. "Small businesses are the engine of our economy, and both SCORE and Web.com are excited about this opportunity to reach more small businesses and help them succeed."

As part of its recently announced agreement with the PGA TOUR, Web.com developed the Web.com Small Business Forum as a way to bring additional benefit to communities where events are held. In Lafayette, the forum takes place in conjunction with The Chitimacha Louisiana Open, which will be played March 21-24 at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club in Broussard. The Chitimacha Louisiana Open is part of the newly named Web.com Tour.

The forum kicks off with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., and the program will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m. While the event is free to attend, advance registration is requested here or at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open site here. All attendees will receive two passes to the local golf tournament. For more information, call 800-862-8718.

Founded in 1990 and owned and operated by the PGA TOUR, the Web.com Tour identifies those players who are ready to compete and win on golf's biggest stage. As the official proving ground of the PGA TOUR, three out of four PGA TOUR members are Web.com Tour alumni. Tour alumni have won nearly 340 PGA TOUR titles, including 16 majors and five PLAYERS Championships. Twenty-five PGA TOUR cards are at stake over the course of 27 events in 2012.
